Simple Planes mod will allow you to create flying planes and helicopters in Minecraft game with the ability to modify them! You can travel the world fast on them, and they require coal or electricity (depending on the type of engine) to run. Also, parachutes will become available in the game, on which you can urgently evacuate from a flying ship.
To board the plane press RMB + SHIFT. The planes is controlled by a standard WASD control scheme.
In new versions of the mod, there are much more crafts, use JEI, also 1.16.5+ versions support the Patchouli mod, which will add a guide book on the mod.
